Psychiatric care in Wrocław, but also in Lower Silesia and throughout the country is subject to major changes, changes that are beneficial for the patient. The idea is to organize psychiatric care along the lines of general trends in treatment, i.e. moving away from treatment in hospitals, inpatient treatment and reaching for such methods of therapy that are closer to the patient - community care in the place of residence, care through participation in day therapy. This is the direction we're headed. We want hospital treatment to be treated as a last resort and to do everything so that the patient does not end up in hospital wards.
Mental health centers are implemented as part of the pilot psychiatric care of the National Mental Health Protection Program. Since February 2022, the Lower Silesian Mental Health Center has been operating - a new medical facility for the Psie Pole district. It has a different philosophy and a different way of looking at the patient than in closed treatment; it is a multi-complex look at the patient from different perspectives. DCZP involves not only doctors, but also psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers and job coaches. Thanks to such composition and the multifaceted nature of the team that works here, the possibilities of acquiring these specialists on the Wrocław labor market are also increasing.
Ultimately, this form of patient support, which is provided in DCZP, is to cover the entire area of Wrocław. New mental health centers are being built successively, and a decision has already been made to launch another one. We plan to implement it in subsequent points in the city from next year, so that the entire population can benefit from it.
